Kansas City Chiefs Confirm Alleged Abuse Claims Involving Player the Athlete
The NFL franchise issued a statement Wednesday night confirming they have knowledge of domestic violence allegations circulated in online accounts by a former girlfriend of wide receiver the athlete and were in contact with the NFL.
The organization did not mention Rice specifically in their statement and noted they would have “no further comment at this time”.

The woman, who also did not mention the athlete by name, shared a set of images on Instagram that seemed to depict indicators of bodily harm. Jones did say the individual in question was the parent of her kids, and reports indicate she has two children with Rice, whom the team drafted in the 2023 draft.
Police Reports Reportedly Not on File
No official complaints were on file in the Kansas City suburb where the incident is said to have taken place.
Player's Prior Legal Issues
Rice was absent for the initial part of this NFL campaign due to an league-mandated ban for his involvement in instigating a crash on a Texas roadway that left multiple people injured. He was given a month of incarceration and probationary supervision after entering a guilty plea to serious offenses.
On the field, Rice concluded the season with 53 catches for 571 yards and five touchdowns as the Chiefs finished with a losing record and failed to qualify for the postseason for the first occasion in a ten-year span.
